We are sisters. We love Gorna Bela Rechka for many reasons. Some of them are the happy summers of our childhood, the bath with sun-warmed water, the simplicity. Diana returned from Prague in 2003 after working there as a journalist for seven years. She founded the Foundation for New Culture with like-minded people and friends and began organizing the annual Festival of Memories GOAT MILK in 2004. She began working with personal stories, memories, and traumas, and Bela Rechka became the main place for this.
It was Bela Rechka that led her in the direction of documentary filmmaking, working with archives, group psychotherapy, and yoga therapy, as well as to Germany, where she currently lives. Since 2019, Diana has not been involved with the Festival or the Foundation.
Galya combines her work as a civil engineer in Sofia with her skills in textiles, paper, vegetarian food, and gardening. Since 2020, she has been living two-thirds of the year in Bela Rechka and developing her studio.
Gorna Bela Rechka is a home, a place for relaxation, for meetings, for work. It gives a lot, teaches us, connects us.
